Bistrot Pierre - Stockton Heath

I'm lucky enough to live in the middle of a few villages and towns that have great restaurants for a foodie - perfect for me - so when I was contacted about Bistrot Pierre launching a new Spring/Summer menu, I was very excited to head over there and try it out. With six new starters, six new mains and two new puddings I was thoroughly spoiled for choice!

Postmodern Jukebox Tour

Last month, I donned my gladrags (sort of!) and headed into Manchester to see the ever-stylish and oh-so-creative Postmodern Jukebox playing live at the Albert Hall.

I've followed Postmodern Jukebox since their "All About the Bass" cover went viral, so a bit of a latecomer to the party...but an avid fan none the less.

The Lakes Distillery Tour and Tasting

What do you get when you combine the beautiful Lake District and gin??? The Lakes Distillery tour!

Earlier this year, I took part in a tour and tasting at the Lakes Distillery and I've got to tell you - it was excellent. And I don't just mean the gin...

Iceland Trip Day One

In January, we booked a short trip to Iceland for the second week of Easter. Of course, we were excited to go and looking forward to seeing the sights. However, in the run up to the holiday, I suffered a miscarriage (I posted about this here). Heartbroken, we had to decide whether to still go on the trip, whether I was physically and emotionally capable and all that it entailed. We decided to go ahead with the trip and it was the best decision we could have made. Iceland healed my soul and I fell in love with this stunning country. So here is our travel diary for the healing holiday.

Valentine's Day Gift Guide 2018 for her

The day of love is approaching ever closer and in the spirit of blogging, I decided to make a Valentine's Day gift guide. I wanted to do a gift guide last year when hubs had a milestone birthday and I bought him a LOT of small gifts. However, time and life got in the way of blogging and it didn't happen. Hubs and I actually made things Facebook official near Valentine's Day so it's a special time of year for us anyway...however, his gift buying skills are renowned for being quirky (at best!) so perhaps this can serve as a hint for him...

Dinner and Drinks in Knutsford

Sick of our home town, my gorgeous friends and I decided to go to Knutsford for dinner and drinks. We had a lovely time and really loved the places we visited! It's so worth a trip there is you're localish (we're about 30 minutes away by car) or if you're staying in the area and want somewhere nice to eat.

What I got for Christmas 2017

As always, I'm only intending to show my appreciation for the gifts I received in this post - this year, I received some gorgeous gifts (and a tin of Spam from Mr T...I think he was trying to be funny...) and I felt so incredible grateful to not only receive the gifts, but also to spend time with the people giving them to me.

My favourite part of Christmas prep is choosing and wrapping the perfect gift for someone - this year, my favourite gift I bought was a Cumbrian colouring book for my dad. It brought back all the memories for him and is a present I bought a long time ago. When you see the perfect gift, you just know don't you!

Anyway, onto my beautiful presents!

Cutting my hair and donating to Little Princess Trust

For a long long time now, I've had long hair. Long, thick, unruly hair. I've resisted and resisted having it cut and even when I did go for "the chop" I had MAYBE an inch taken off the bottom. It wasn't until my hairdryer broke at the beginning of November that I really realised how much hair I actually had. I'd already asked for a new hairdryer for Christmas and so was left with a travel hairdryer for SIX weeks. It was like using a toothbrush to mop an arena floor. Add to that, some severe hair envy on Jenna Coleman and suddenly, cutting it all off seemed like a great idea. In the end, I had eight inches cut off my hair and, while I was in the chair, my hairdresser suggest that I donate my hair to the Little Princess Trust.

New Years' Resolutions 2018

This year, my resolutions are a mixture. There's things I want to be and things I want to do. More of a to do list than a resolution perhaps? Nevertheless, this is my plan.

Where have I been?

I didn't intend to have a blog break. In fact, I was on quite the roll when all of a sudden, I just had severe writer's block and couldn't even think of a blog title, let alone string a sentence together. A week turned into a month, a month turned into two and time, life, blogging all passed me by.

Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa

I was recently lucky enough to have an overnight stay at Armathwaite Hall - a luxury hotel in the Lake District. This hotel is owned by the Graves family and has stood on the shores of Bassenthwaite since the 11th century! It's got gorgeous rooms with stunning views, a luxurious spa, brasserie restaurant and formal restaurant as well as many many little nooks and crannies to curl up with a cup of tea and a good book!

Hare Hill - Macclesfield

I'm a member of the National Trust and love nothing more than escaping to a property at the weekend and having a good old nosy around. Big or small, I find something interesting about each location! Hare Hill is a woodland park with a walled garden at its centre. Small yet perfectly formed.

Southport Flower Show 2017

I've just had the most amazing time at Southport Flower Show. It's the first time I've been to a flower show in my life and it was just incredible. From the beautiful flowers to the tasty food to the entertaining shows...it is the perfect day out for couples, families, young and old! The theme this year was "The Curious Garden" which led to whimsical creations all over the show!

Moor Street Night Market - Ormskirk

I've been trying to find more local events to attend with the hubs and saw that Ormskirk had organised a night market. The description of local ales, artisan gins and, of course, street food won us over so off we went to the first Moor Street Night Market. It may be the first, but I hope it's not the last. I can see that this would be really successful!

Peek into Mister Miyagi in Ormskirk

Like pan-Asian cuisine? Like tapas? You'll love Mister Miyagi in Ormskirk. The third branch of this north-west restaurant opened near me in April 2017 and I finally managed to visit!
