My Holiday Essentials

I've been a little AWOL for a while on my blog - time, emotions and a general lack of motivation have all contributed to a lack of presence on my blog and social media.

I think that perhaps I want to take the blog in a more lifestyle direction - I feel bad for writing holiday posts, fashion posts, days out posts when I've always set myself out as a beauty blog. Perhaps I should worry less about sticking to a niche and just write what I want - the blogs been heading down a lifestyle route organically anyway!

Anyway, enough of the blurb...onto this post - my holiday essentials!

The £20 Makeup Challenge

I've watched loads of these challenges online and thought I'd try my own. Instead of going to a shop and buying the products, as I'm on a spending ban, I shopped my stash for £20 worth of products and applied them to my face. With the plethora of decent budget brands out there, I found this easier than I thought and I was pretty pleased with the end result too!

Daytime and Evening Look from the Morphe 35O palette

You may have seen that I recently ordered and received the Morphe 35O palette. It was a time of great excitement! I've had chance now to have a play with the palette and I've created two looks, one suitable for daytime, one for evening using the palette.

Before I get into the looks, lets take a look at the palette...what a thing of beauty...

Thirty five warm and neutral shades with incredible pigmentation, texture and affordability.

Tori's Top Tips - Cleaning Makeup Brushes

So I'm here to share with you a top tip that I've learned over the MANY years of cleaning brushes...

Primark Beauty Sponge Review

In the early days of blogging, when I realised that Beauty Blenders were A THING, I was intrigued. And when I saw a pink, egg shaped sponge in Primark for £1 I was even more intrigued. And then when I got it home and it was hard and not at all spongy, even when wet, I decided that beauty sponges might be A THING but not in my makeup bag.

After that I discovered the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge* which swiftly became A THING for me. I loved it passionately! And still do....

However, I've also found a new beauty sponge, half the price and *almost* as good. And it was from Primark...so what had changed?

Morphe 35O palette review, swatches and general loving

You cannot have failed to see the hype over the 35O palette made by Morphe. I certainly noticed it and on seeing the colours, owning the palette was never far from my mind. In fact, I was a woman possessed, constantly checking whether it was in stock. Finally, I found it was in stock on Beauty Chamber, ordered it and the rest, as they say, is history!

Top 5 drugstore glitter nail polish

If you're anything like me, anything sparkly is an instant winner. I'm such a sucker for glitter! I especially love glitter nail polish, especially now I have nailed (haha) the application of them! (See Tori's Top Tip for applying glitter nail polish). Therefore, it seemed only right that I introduce you to my top 5 drugstore nail polishes.

Tori's Top Tips - Applying glitter nail polish

Picture the scene. You're in Boots, browsing the aisles when out of the corner of your eye, a twinkle sparkles from the shelves. It's a glitter nail polish...and you NEED it.

You get it home, open it up and paint a coat to realise that you've been fooled again. One coat of this polish leaves you three specks of glitter and a whole load of gloop. It's resigned to the back of the makeup drawer where dodgy products go to die.

Until now. Get out that glitter polish! I can teach you how to apply it so it sparkles like the goddess that you are!

Superdrug Vitamin E Range

I've long been a massive fan of the Superdrug Vitamin E range. I use a lot of their products and my skin drinks them up.

I was given a lot of them for Christmas this year and thought I would share with you my collection and thoughts on them.

If you'd like to see what else I got for Christmas, just follow the link.

Glam Smokey Drugstore Priced Eye ft Makeup Revolution and Makeup Geek

I sat down one Saturday morning at my dressing table. My usual Saturday routine if I'm not leaving the house is a bit of moisturiser and lip balm and that's it.

Ninety minutes later, I stood up with a full face of glam, smokey eyed makeup and, in my opinion, the best damn blending I've EVER done. I almost felt like I should leave the house purely so it could be showcased, haha!

Never mind, I had fun doing it...and so I'm sharing it with you now.

Skin79 Panda Sheet Mask and Pilaten Lip Mask Review

I've been seeing sheet and lip masks spring up massively recently as part of the surge in Korean beauty and I was so intrigued. I really fancied the idea of laying a sheet mask over my face - it seemed like it would be so relaxing! Especially if it had a cute animal on the front. What can I say...I'm a sucker for cute!

Silidyn Trial Midpoint Update

In November, I was chosen to take part in a trial of Silidyn, a silcon liquid supplement to aid healthy nails, hair, joints...SO many benefits. You can read my starter post over at The Trouble With Getting Older...Starting a Trial of Silidyn.

I'm here now, five weeks into a eight week trial and thought I'd write an update post to show you how I'm getting on.

Top Drugstore Nude Lipsticks

I am a massive nude lipstick lover. I prefer them to any other lipstick. As much as I love berry shades and reds...I prefer them on other people. I can't deal with my lips being OUT THERE as centre of attention. Therefore, I have accumulated a wide range of nude lipsticks and thought I would share my most used four from the drugstore.

Shadow Switch Review

I don't know about you, but I'm always running out of brushes to do my eye makeup with. Mainly because I'm terrible at washing them regularly. They get contaminated with darker shadow. Just the other day, I was aiming for a wash of my favourite bronze shadow (Maybelline On and On Bronze Colour Tattoo if you're interested) across the eye for a subtle daytime look when WHAM! Bronze mixed with black and an unintentionally glamorous, nighttime appropriate, smokey eye. For a coffee. At midday. I either get better at washing my brushes or live with it...until now...
