Postmodern Jukebox Tour

Last month, I donned my gladrags (sort of!) and headed into Manchester to see the ever-stylish and oh-so-creative Postmodern Jukebox playing live at the Albert Hall.

I've followed Postmodern Jukebox since their "All About the Bass" cover went viral, so a bit of a latecomer to the party...but an avid fan none the less.

Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ) are a ever-changing band founded by Scott Bradlee that cover popular songs in a variety of historic musical genres. I love the way that they rework classic and modern songs in 20s, 50s, 70s...every style you can imagine! Their mash-ups are even crazier.

The line up changes constantly and the last time I read their blog, there were over 50 vocalists and 50 instrumentalists to choose from, each offering their own spin on a tune.

I've wanted to see them live for the longest time and finally got my chance!

There were five main vocalists at the Manchester show, a 4/5 piece band and the quickest tap dancer I have ever seen.

From the moment the show started, I was enthralled by the sheer talent of the performers and mesmerised by the show they were putting on. They looked like they were having an absolute ball and I danced and sang my heart out!

The show bounced along from one classic song to another, all recognisable with their own twist. Hubs and I both agreed that the stand out song was Creep which was hauntingly beautiful and one of their most famous covers.

I'll embed their YouTube clip of the cover here...but live was just something else!

I managed to get a few shots of the stage from a distance and a few video clips but really didn't want to experience the show through a lens...

I haven't been to a gig for a long time but I'm so glad I made it to this one!

If you get the chance, I whole-heatedly recommend watching them...and at least subscribe to their YouTube and Spotify playlists!
