New Skincare Routine

New year, new skincare right? I've actually been in a good routine for a while now and in December, I introduced some new finds and products which have been really working for me. So here it is...my new skincare routine!

My updated skin routine featuring DHC, Balance Active, Skin Chemist, Nivea and Superdrug! Affordable and high end!

My love for the Superdrug Vitamin E range is well documented and it still plays a HUGE role in my routine but I have added a few more products that are a bit more intense now that I've hit the end of my mid-thirties.

I've popped a widget belowwith all my favourite products in.
It's got affiliate links which you can skip if you're bothered by these.

Morning Routine

I shower and wash my face using the DHC Face Wash Powder and Foaming Mesh. I love this because it's foaming without the dryness afterwards. It gets rid of any build up from throughout the night and leaves my face gorgeously clean but not at all tight feeling. Plus, it's still fun to foam it all up in the mesh.

After that, I use a serum by Balance Active - I'm loving their hyaluronic serum at the moment which sinks straight in and gives me the moisture hit my poor winter skin craves. I also like the Vitamin C serum. They're light weight and sink right in!

Then I moisturise my face in Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Day Cream which has SPF 15 and is rich enough to keep my skin supple in these winter months. I prefer a gel moisturiser in the summer but winter calls for a thick cream!

Finally, I wake my little peepers up with the DHC Beauty Lift Eye Care Essence Roll on which really refreshes tired eyes and gives them a little massage too!

Night time routine

I've found a night time routine harder to get into. If I go too heavy on the moisturisers at night, my skin breaks out so I have to be super careful. However, I think I've found the answer.

First, I double cleanse. I use the Superdrug Vitamin E Dual Phase Cleansing Oil to remove most of my makeup and break down the stubborn mascaras etc.

Then I go in with my favourite product of all time - the Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser which I slather all over my face, giving it a really good massage before removing it with a clean, hot flannel. There's nothing left on my face after this - I tested it out in my "Which is the best way to cleanse?" post which you can read for gruesome evidence of the horror of facewipes!

After that, I use another serum, this time from Skin Chemists. Their Wrinkle Killer Snake Serum contains Syn-Ake, hyaluronic acid and allantoin all designed to smooth wrinkles and hydrate the skin. I can't use this day and night as it makes my skin a little sensitive but I've found that 3-4 times a week is the perfect balance. When I don't use this, I'm back in with my Balance Active serums. The price difference between these two products is HUGE and goes to show that you don't always need to spend big to get great products.

My night cream is also Skin Chemists - it's their Oui Essential Hydrating Night Moisturiser. This is gorgeous. It's a gel like texture which sinks into the skin quickly and gives me the perfect level of hydration without too much richness which is perfect for my skin.

Other occasional products

I'm a big fan of the Epoch Glacial Mud Mask from Nu Skin which helps to dry up any breakouts that do occur and also calms down my skin.

I also enjoy using The Body Shop Drops of Light Pure Resurfacing Liquid Peel whenever my skin feels clogged up.

About once a fortnight, I complete my At Home Facial with a few substitutions for the new products mentioned above.

And that's it! I'm pretty lucky with my skin anyway - I don't often break out and have combination skin with a slightly oily t-zone and a fairly normal rest of the face. My skin IS slightly dehydrated and loves it when I get on board with the water drinking hence all the hyaluronic acid!

Next on my list to try are some skincare bits from The Ordinary.

Are there any wonder products you think I would love? Let me know below!
