How I edit my Instagram photos

First things first, I am in NO way an Instagram expert but what I lack in skill, I make up for in enthusiasm. I love taking photos, choosing which ones to use on Instagram and then fixing them.

When I say fixing them, this is where my lack of expertise comes in. I just snap anything, regardless of light, and then try to edit them, fixing the light and adding a border using apps on my phone.

A recent example of this was the trip I took to Anglesey in the log cabin. Whilst the setting was beautiful, the lighting was challenging...to say the least! Take this photograph of the cushions on our bed. The wood and the lighting made the white cushion and bedding look SO yellow.

But this is what ended up on my Instagram...

I used a variety of apps to fix the colour and add the border.

First of all I used Afterlight (79p from the app store) to crank the brightness and contrast up to the maximum which took the cushion from yellow to a creamier colour.

After that, I used FaceTune (£2.99 from the app store) to whiten the cushion further before adding a border using LiveCollage (free from the app store!).

Finally, I added the photo to Instagram!

I don't have a theme as such on my Instagram but I do have the black border on all of my photos and de-saturate my colours on all of them. Nothing too bright.
