Magnitone Barefaced Review

I've wanted a facial cleansing brush for SUCH a long time so when Magnitone offered to send me their Magnitone Barefaced, I LEAPT at the chance. I've been thoroughly testing it out and finding it's best place in my beauty routine before I reviewed it on my blog. So, after MUCH testing, here's the review...!

Magnitone Barefaced Review

Magnitone Barefaced Review

Firstly, let us just take a moment to appreciate the beauty of this! Pink is my thing, haha! It fits comfortably into my hand as it has curved edges. It comes in a range of pastel colours so there's bound to be one to suit you if pink isn't your thing. But really....the pink...lush!

This is SO easy to use and slot into a beauty routine. You have to charge the brush for 24 hours before you use it. It's really easy to charge using a magnetic charger and a USB lead. After that, the brush lasts for ages without needing to be recharged.

I start off by removing my make-up using the Superdrug Vitamin E Gentle Eye Makeup Remover (which is amazing!) and the L'oreal Paris Extraordinary Cleansing Oil to remove my face makeup. That keeps the brush clean.

Once you use the brush, you switch it on and brush over your face. I concentrate on one cheek at a time, until the brush beeps and finally along my t-zone. The beeps are 20 seconds apart.  The brush shuts off automatically after 1 minute. I use this on top of my hot cloth cleanser. I find foaming cleansers quite drying and actually really enjoy really massaging this cleanser into my face. After the first section, I wipe off any excess cleanser with a damp flannel. Once you've done this step, you press the button again and the brush starts again with a more pulsating, massaging motion. This is the part that makes your skin really glow and ready for your moisturisers!

I need to watch out that I don't actually brush my face, the Magnitone does all the work for you, it just needs gliding over your face.

Magnitone Barefaced Review

I can't imagine my routine without this cleansing brush now. It gently exfoliates, plumps up my skin and the glow...oh the glow!!

Have you tried a facial brush? Would you fit one into your routine?

Have a beautiful day, inside and out

4 looks, 1 palette : Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 2

My love for Makeup Revolution is well documented on Twitter and on this blog. I bought the Iconic Pro 1 palette back in August and since then, I think I've used it almost everyday!

Which is the best way to cleanse? | A Tori Test

Cleansing my face at the end of the day is as much a part of my routine as brushing my teeth but with so many cleansing methods out there, which one is best? This calls for a Tori test (see my others on setting sprays and eye primers).

In the interests of fairness, I used each cleansing method after a full day of wearing my everyday makeup. I did the initial cleanse with chosen method then cleansed for a second time using my much loved Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser. I'll be honest, the photos are not pretty.

Face Wipes

I know, I know...we all know the horrors of face wipes...right? I know a lot of people who still use them as their only cleansing method. Yes, they're quick and convenient. But they're disgusting. You know why? Because they're spreading the dirt around your face instead of actually cleaning it off! Here's the results:

Pretty disgusting, no?
Fortunately (as Mr T bought me 5 packs of face wipes for Christmas) I have a post planned on 5 ways to use face wipes that don't involve cleaning your face...

Micellar Water

This has been a massive fad in the beauty world over the past few years and micellar waters have exploded onto the market. I think almost every brand has their own version of a micellar water. I take these with me on overnight trips that involve a night out because something is better than nothing (or a face wipe...)

Now, we can see that the results are a lot better than the face wipe. Most of my face makeup has been cleaned off but I did find it more difficult to remove mascara. With the face wipe, I could rub just the lashes. With cotton pads soaked in micellar water, I'd have had to rub the skin around my eyes and girl needs no more wrinkles!!

And last but not least we have...

Cleansing Oil

This is the latest method of cleansing I have tried. At the moment, I'm using a cleansing oil in my at home facial routine but in the interests of testing, thought I'd use it here. Oil is well known for breaking down makeup so I imagined this would be very effective. I massaged two pumps of oil into my face before washing it off with warm water. This is the result:

This actually really surprised me. I just didn't think that washing off the oil could remove so much makeup! There was hardly anything on my face cloth, just a couple of streaks of mascara and a smudge of makeup all for ten seconds of massaging an oil into my face and splashing it off with water!

So there you have it. The best way to cleanse your face as a first step in a double cleanse or as a single cleanse is cleansing oil.

How do you cleanse your face? Will you change the method you use now? Let me know in the comments ...I reply to each and every one or on Twitter @tori30plus

How to make thick, unruly hair sleek and manageable.

Hello. I'm Tori and I have thick hair. Not just thick hair but the kind of thick that hairdressers exclaim in horror about. The sort that makes them book me lots of extra time and instead of my last name being on my client card, I'm down as VERY THICK.

Recent Beauty Purchases - January & February

Rather than do one big shop recently, I've been picking up bits here and there - scatter shopping, haha! Most of these were impulse purchases though, which I've really got to stop! I need to concentrate on the things on my wish list, haha!

These appeared on my doorstep - I think I'd drunkenly ordered them! However, I'm loving them. The powder brush is so soft...

I also FINALLY paid a visit to the Kiko shop in the Trafford Centre. I picked up two BB lip glazes in a coral and pink colour. Initial impressions are good - they're quite pigmented and not at all sticky. I also picked up two taupey eyeshadows which look less similar in real life, haha! These are really pigmented and seem very blendable. I need to get a Z-pallette to put them in...and I'll probably pick up some Makeup Geek eyeshadows at the same time!

I've been really intrigued by using the after-shave balm as a primer for a long time thanks to Nikkie Tutorials. I spotted it on offer in Sainsbury's so picked it up!

Finally, my pops gave me some money to treat myself so I headed down to Boots and picked up these bits. I ADORE the Barry M nail paints - they last really well. I'm also loving the OGX shampoo and conditioner. I'm not so keen on True Match - I found it's going really cakey unless I mix it with some Lumi Magique primer...may as well have bought the Lumi Magique foundation!!

What have you picked up recently??

Have a beautiful day, inside and out

5 ways to: Spoil Your Loved One

In the spirit of the Valentine season, I bring you the next edition of 5 ways to... This time, it's all about your loved one. We all know that Valentine's Day is very commercialised and there can be a lot of pressure to spend a lot of money. If your loved one is anything like mine, anything that involves spending money is a surefire way to make him unhappy. He's not tight fisted but he definitely doesn't spend money unnecessarily. I'm actually a great believer in it's the little things that make a difference anyway so here are 5 (cheap) ways I spoil Mr T.

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss - Afternoon Tea - Review and Swatches

I picked up this lip gloss as a spur of the moment purchase a couple of weeks ago not imagining that it would become my staple lip product! I'm a lover of a muted lip and love the comfort of a gloss. I picked up the lip gloss in Beauty Outlet in Cheshire Oaks so I think it's in an old packaging.

Sensationail Gel Nails Review

There's nothing I love more than a freshly painted manicure. And nothing I hate MORE than chipped nail varnish. It's a never ending battle so last Christmas, when my mum bought me the Sensationail Deluxe Gel Starter Kit I thought that my struggle was over. It's taken me a year to fall in love with it, but fall in love I have!

Maybelline Colour Tattoos Collection with Swatches

Maybelline Colour Tattoo eyeshadows are one of my favourite drug store eye products. They do exactly what they say on the tin - almost tattoo your eyelid with their stickability.

Boutique of Molly Beri Poncho

I recently connected with Boutique of Molly on Twitter and quickly got hooked on their website. There's some gorgeous things on there which I adored. I soon had to make an order and had fallen in love with their Beri Poncho - so on-trend and perfect for the mild winter we'd been experiencing. Of soon as it arrived, so did the snow! Haha!

This is the first time I've done an outfit of the day sort of post so I recruited my sister and my bestie to take some photographs on different days.

An at-home facial routine

A couple of months ago, I had my first facial in a spa. It was a gorgeous spa, a lovely atmosphere and absolutely not for me. I'm not a fan of people touching me, I just couldn't relax and enjoy the experience because SOME STRANGE WOMAN HAD HER HANDS ON ME!! I don't know if anyone else is like this about spas but it really disappointed me...I had wanted to love it so much!

With that in mind and knowing that my skin would really benefit from some extra TLC, especially through the winter, I devised an at home facial routine which I can do to myself. Much less stressful - I know me well!

Small disclaimer here - I'm aware that this will never match a salon facial but for me, the pros outweigh this. I've devised a 7 step facial that takes around 30 minutes.

Step 1
I massage an oil cleanser into my face for 3-4 minutes. I don't press hard but lightly massage my face, always upwards and outwards until my forehead where I go down from my hairline. I also massage using my knuckles along my jaw line. Massaging your face increases blood flow which in turn makes skin glow and plumps it up. I use L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil Facial Cleansing Oil for this. This dissolves any make-up left on my face without stripping it of natural oils, a must when dealing with dehyrated and dry skin like mine. I remove the cleanser with a warm face cloth.

Step 2
The second cleanse can really penetrate my skin now because of the first cleanse. I choose to use, and have chosen for a couple of years now, the Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser. This is SUCH a bargain, only £4.99 for a massive tube and often on offer. I love this cleanser. My skin always feels so nourished after I have used it. Again, I massage this into my face for a couple of minutes before using a warm face cloth to remove. I like to cover my face with the warm cloth and leave it there for a minute or so.

Step 3
Next, I like to exfoliate my skin. I got this sample of the Nuxe Gelee Exfoliante Douce from Love Me Beauty but as soon as I've used it all, I'll definitely be purchasing the full size version. It's a gentle but effective exfoliator that smells heavenly. I love rose scents and this is gorgeous. The exfoliant in it is nutshell powder and lychee seed which are in a gel. It's comfortable to use and an important step in getting rid of the dead skin cells that dull your skin. I massage it into my damp skin for 1-2 minutes before removing, again with a damp wash cloth.

Step 4
Next step is a face mask. Currently I'm using this Superdrug Naturally Radiant Brightening Renewal Face Mask. It is a thick gel like texture which is rich in fruit acids. It is supposed to add to your skins glow and ease the appearance of fine lines. It doesn't set as such and feels comfortable on the skin for the ten minutes you leave it on for. I blogged about this when I first bought it to say that I liked it and I still do. It's not a holy grail though and after this, I want to try the Vitamin E Leave On Mask from Superdrug. Still, after the double cleanse and exfoliate, the mask can certainly penetrate the skin and plump it up for maximum benefit.

Step 5
After all the cleansing and exfoliating, I moisturise using a three step procedure. These are the same products that I use every night anyway because I blooming love them!
First of all, I use a serum. At the moment, I'm using the Body Shop Vitamin E Serum in Oil which is an overnight treatment. This is one of my favourite new discoveries of the past year. It's non greasy, seriously moisturising, delicious smelling...I could go on. I swear, as soon as I use this, my skin glows! It comes with a handy pipette which I use to pop the product in the palms of my hand. I warm it up there before patting it into my skin then again, massaging my face. It absorbs so easily and honestly, the glow. If you buy one thing from this blog post, make it this one!

Step 6
Eye cream. My eye area is the most dehydrated part of my face, I have a lot of fine lines in that area and I'm certain they are dehydration. This is my third Vitamin E product of the post from a third retailer and it's the Boots Vitamin E Gentle Eye Cream. It's really thick but again, absorbs easily. I use this at night to provide hydration but in the morning I use an eye gel to decrease puffiness. I chose the eye cream for my at home facial because I want/need/crave hydration!

Step 7
I apply a moisturiser. Typically, I do facials in the evening so I use my night cream which currently is Boots Botanics All Bright Hydrating Night Cream. This contains a range of ingredients all aimed at boosting moisture levels such as hyaluronic acid, AHAs and Hibiscus extract. I find it so moisturising that I only need the smallest amount to pat into my skin.

After I have completed this at home facial, my skin is pleasantly tingling and feels so plump and hydrated that I feel it must be doing some good. In the days that follow, my skin gets brighter and more glowy. I do an at home facial every fortnight or so.

What products would you use in an at home facial?

Have a beautiful day, inside and out
