New Year's Eve GRWM

I'm spending NYE this year with some very close friends of ours and I can't wait! I'm so excited. I've been planning my makeup for some time and bought the perfect outfit the other day from H&M. A balance of dressy and casual with some absolute girliness thrown in for good measure!

What I got for Christmas 2016

I LOVE reading these posts on blogs and wrote one last year *What I Got For Christmas 2015* so thought I'd also do one this year.

I've had an amazing Christmas, spent so much time with my family and Mr T's and thoroughly enjoyed all the festive films, food and fun!

As usual...I'm really not showing off about what I got, I have been spoiled ROTTEN this year and I am a very lucky girl. I appreciate it all so much.

The Bath and Bodyworks candle dupes from B&M Bargains

I've been seeing these candles all over social media recently but they first came to my attention in Autumn with the Radiant Fireside candle which I picked up on a whim. It's been in my bedroom ever since, scenting the air even without being lit. I was really impressed by its quality so when I started seeing them all over blogosphere, I wasn't surprised. I know I HAD to pick up some of their Winter collection!

Last minute Christmas gift ideas

You know what it's like...the season gets so busy and all of a sudden, there's less than a week to go and a few presents still to buy. It happens to me most years and so I thought I'm compile a list of last minute gift ideas that wouldn't require any waiting for a parcel to arrive...or too much time queuing in in the shopping centre. All of these gifts are instant downloads or you can get them ALL in a supermarket.

This has been on my wishlist for sometime after seeing it through YouTube land. It looked like the perfect nude lipstick for me and I'd heard good good things about this formulation of liquid lipstick. As an aside...this is my 200th blog post - what better way to celebrate than finding my holy grail of liquid lipsticks...

A Rose Gold Gift Guide

Obviously Rose Gold has been having a fashion moment for quite some time now and I can fully see why. It's such a beautiful colour, from the copper to the gold tones and everything in between.

I've picked out a few rose gold items that any rose gold lover would be delighted to receive on Christmas Day.

Best copper and gold eyeshadows

Having previously been all about the cool eyeshadows, I've recently been loving warm toned eyeshadows. Especially bronzes, coppers and golds! I had a little shop around my stash and found some beauties that I'd forgotten I owned - I then promptly took the photo, posted it on Instagram and lost it! So the photo here has been embedded from my insta...

A Christmas FOTD with Makeup Geek

I recently bought my first Makeup Geek eyeshadows and wanted to create a Christmas eye makeup look with them that I might wear to a Christmas party or even on Christmas Day itself! It was also my first attempt at a cut crease look which is much, much harder than it looks...

My Top 5 Drugstore Highlighters

Like many beauty bloggers, I am obsessed with highlighters. Like...obsessed. I want ALL the shine. All of the year.

The Pit Smokehouse - Culcheth

I recently ate at the The Pit Smokehouse in Culcheth which, as  the name suggests, is a smokehouse serving American style cuisine. I knew all of this before I visited...what I didn't expect was the style of the place! You don't get places this stylish in my local area normally...although things are improving and the Pit Smokehouse is leading the way!

Easy Red Nail Art Ideas

Now, I am NO nail artist but I do love nail art so I decided to use some nail wheels to test out some easy nail art designs.

These were all made using a simple red nail varnish - OPI Big Apple Red which costs £9.95 from Beauty Bay but which I got in a Love Me Beauty box. I then tweaked each nail to make different designs which could be used as an accent nail or all over!

What's new in my makeup bag

I've been collecting a few new items for my makeup bag recently, including some that I've wanted for the longest time!

Kiko

I went to Leeds for my birthday weekend and stumbled across a KIKO shop directly next to a shop suitable for The Boy so I managed to persuade him that this was the ideal opportunity for me AND him to enjoy our shopping trip.

While I was in there, I took a look at their famous water eyeshadow in 208 (supposedly a dupe for Laura Geller Gilded Honey highlighter) and picked up a few bits as well.

I picked up one of the water eyeshadows in shade 228 Taupe which is a gorgeous mauve/taupe/mushroom highly shimmering eyeshadow. You can use this wet or dry. I've only used it dry because the pigmentation is so much anyway.

I also grabbed a standard eyeshadow. This was a black sparkly shade (number 178 MacroPearly Black)which is SO pigmented it's untrue. It really took me by surprise. The glitter, although really obvious in the pan, doesn't come across quite so well on the eye.

Kiko always seem to have a sale section and I often grab a couple of items from there, this time a shimmery bronze eyeliner which I thought would look great smudged underneath the eye. It's quite hard and needs warming up before you use it. (Shade 802 Dark Amethyst)

Swatches top to bottom: Eyeliner, Water Eyeshadow, Black eyeshadow

Finally, I was completely sucked in by this Gossamer Emotion Creamy lipstick, mainly because of the click packaging..I'm such a sucker for a novelty! I'm actually in love with the lipstick too. I chose a really pale peachy nude (Shade 101 Natural Rose) to wear with my new blacker than black smokey eyeshadow. But mainly...I bought it for the packaging. Haha!

Laura Geller Gilded Honey

I have wanted this highlighter for the longest time!!! (See my Summer Essentials post) and when I saw the Laura Geller counter in Leeds, my dreams came true. I swatched the highlighter. I admired it for a long time. I talked about it with one of the girls who worked there. Then I walked away!

The whole way around Leeds, I couldn't stop thinking about it - the gold, the shimmer, the pigmentation! So The Boy told me to go back and buy it as a birthday present from him. I could have beaten Usain Bolt getting back to that shop! And a good job too! As soon as I walked in, the sales assistant I'd been talking to came straight back over and understood immediately why I was there. She said she was glad I'd come back as they were down to their last box of Gilded Honey and it was really hard to get hold of.

I used it that night for my birthday makeup and my cheeks glowed like they never have before. It's quite deceptive - it looks like there's almost nothing on your face...until the light catches it, then your glow SLAYS! It's definitely my new favourite highlighter!

What's new in your makeup bag?

Have a beautiful day, inside and out

Autumn OOTD featuring birthday presents!

You may have seen ALL over social media that it was recently my birthday and I got thoroughly spoiled by my family and The Boy.

The Boy whisked me off to Leeds for a birthday weekend trip full of shopping and cocktails where we bought my birthday present from him to me, which is featured in this post.

Today, I visited Rufford Old Hall with my sister. She's taken a new job which requires working weekends so we haven't spent any time together at all recently. However, she was off today so we decided to take a walk around the grounds at Rufford Old Hall, enjoying the Autumn colours and weather! I exploited the opportunity to do my first real OOTD blog photos featuring two of my birthday presents!

GRWM: Family Party

I've had a very busy month in September - lots of family birthdays including a very big one! My GRWM posts have been quite popular in the past so I thought I'd show you my makeup look for the big family party that we had at the beginning of the month, especially as I used some colour on my eyes. Most unusual for me!

This was the finished eye look:

Next Nail Polish Review - Rose Gold

As a beauty blogger who loves a good cliche (see my new marble effect desktop), I was beyond excited to see these nail polishes by Next in a rose gold colour. Add in a 3 for 2 deal and I was hooked. (I bought two rose gold glitters and passed one on to a good home!)

Lake Garda Holiday Diary Part 2

In August, I was lucky enough to be taken to Lake Garda for ten day holiday in Sirmione. I absolutely loved it, Italy is one of my favourite countries and Lake Garda was simply stunning.

I blogged the first part of my holiday over at Lake Garda Part 1 which includes some highlights of a trip around the lake and a review of Hotel Olivi.

In this post I'm going to go a little more in depth about an excursion to another beautiful lake that we did while away.

Birthday Wish List

I've made a discovery which has made my (and Mr T's) life a LOT easier. Wishlistr. I've been using the Wishlistr extension for Google Chrome to add all sorts to my birthday list, then last month, emailed the list to Mr T with a couple of hints about mt favourites and relevant sizes. He'll thank me...haha!

You can find my wishlist here My wishlist (Mr T....! This is your SECOND friendly warning) which you can share via email, Facebook or Twitter. You can also choose a template to personalise it. Seriously! It's my latest love!

Tori Gets Organised: Dressing Table

I've been watching a lot of organisational videos on YouTube recently and decided to get organised myself, leading to the latest series on my blog - Tori Gets Organised.

The latest area to get organised in my house has been my dressing table.

Pink/Gold glitter ombre nail

My favourite nail colour combo is still the Barry M Nail Gelly in Pink Lemonade combined with Barry M Nail Paint in Gold. I used it in my Spring Nail Art look  and I've used it again here now! Except this time...I've added glitter. Everything's better with glitter, right??

Packing for a long weekend with cabin baggage only

I recently spent a long weekend in Spain, flying with EasyJet and literally only having cabin baggage. We were there for four days in total and were doing a mixture of chilling by the pool, a bit of sightseeing and a day at a reservoir swimming. I needed a lot of different things in other words! And that's before I decided on the toiletries I was taking in that little plastic bag!!

Here are my top tips for packing a cabin bag holiday.

The suitcase

First of all - make sure you maximise the bag you take. A cabin bag sized case is actually bigger than you think. My top tip is to buy a specifically cabin bag sized case and then you're not panicking about it being too big and not losing out either. I went for a Tripp cabin luggage suitcase that fit most airlines size requirements. Mine is extremely old now but you can find all sorts out there.  These are my current favourites!

Tori Gets Organised - Shoes and Bags

A short while ago, I made a promise to myself and to you lovely readers (and to Mr T...) that I would FINALLY get organised. You can see my post Tori Gets Organised: The Promise here.

I wrote the post as much to MAKE myself do it as anything else and guess what, I actually started!!

My shoes and bags used to be in a pile underneath our lift up bed. I could never find the bag I wanted or a matching pair of shoes... but now - drum roll please...!

(Please excuse the photography - how do you make organisation look pretty?! Tips in the comments please!)

Walking Morecambe Bay with Cedric

As regular readers to my blog will know, I'm quite the fan of the great outdoors (I refer you to my staycation posts) so when the opportunity came up to walk Morecambe Bay, I couldn't turn it down.

I walked the bay for Reverse Rett - a charity close to Mr T's family's hearts. You can find their webpage by clicking on the Reverse Rett link which includes details on their upcoming events, how to donate and information about the charity itself. Briefly and simply, Rett Syndrome is a neurological condition that affects little girls shortly after their first birthday. For these girls and women, their bodies cannot obey the instructions from their brain, so they can understand more than they are able to show.

Combining walking outdoors with a challenge and raising money for charity...let's read on!

The walk is from Arnside across the bay to Kent's Bank train station. Fortunately for us, one of Mr T's relatives lives a 5 minute walk from the station so we parked there and caught the train into Arnside. This was an experience in itself. The train travels across the bay on a viaduct and offers gorgeous views across the bay for the whole journey. The train was PACKED but only took around ten minutes.

Lake Garda Holiday Diary Part 1

Last year, I wrote extensively about our trip to Italy which included Venice, Rome, Florence and Sorrento - we spent two weeks travelling by car and train and loved the country. This year, my dad kindly offered to take us to Lake Garda for ten days...somewhere we'd wanted to visit last year and couldn't quite fit it in. Therefore, we gladly accepted!!

Tori Gets Organised: The Promise

I've recently developed a little bit of an obsession with organisation videos on YouTube...not just makeup organisation, although this is where it started, but household organisation as well. I'm VERY well organised at work - I have to be to get through the day with no major catastrophes and Mr T always complains that I don't continue this at home. He's extremely organised at work AND at home whereas I'm messy and leave a trail of clutter throughout the house.

Wedding Anniversary Date Day in Manchester

As I *might* have mentioned once or twice, it was recently my wedding anniversary with Mr T. To celebrate, we bought him a new pair of running shoes (see my gait analysis post...!) and then we went for dinner and cocktails in Manchester. I took LOTS of photographs of delicious cocktails and thought I'd share them with you.

We started at The Botanist on Deansgate as I am a massive fan of the cocktails from The Botanist. I love the garden theme and the cocktails just taste that little bit more sophisticated than my usual bubblegum, sugary concoctions.

Gait Analysis at The Sweatshop in Manchester

Mr T's running shoes recently fell apart after an over-vigorous game of foot-golf. This meant that one of our very exciting wedding anniversary activities was to buy him a new pair. He wanted to head to The Sweat Shop in Manchester as he'd seen trainers online that he liked.

While we were there, a really helpful assistant offered a gait analysis to ensure that the trainers he bought were the best for him. Due to some niggly knee injuries in the past, he decided to go for it so to pass the time, I photographed the whole experience and thought I'd blog about it for your reading pleasure!
